Why and how to use “optionals” in Swift language + unwrapping

In programming, we have times that our created variable has no value yet or expected to be assigned later by the users and this can cause a crash because in Swift language the variable type must be defined and the variables must have a value associated.

In this case, optionals come for help. Optionals are the data types that can have nil value to be replaced later or to be kept as nil. As an example, while filling the signup form second name sections must be optional because not everybody has a second name. …

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of clickbait

I got you off on a hook, right?

In short, this is clickbait. But today, we are here to talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly about clickbait. Often seen as a wasteful marketing strategy, clickbait has been this one thing showered with step-motherly treatment in marketing.

But the harsh truth is clickbait is one of the most effective marketing strategies that is tried and tested by marketers over generations.

Clickbait was not born in the 21st century, and the earliest successful clickbait campaigns go as far as the 1800s. …

If there was one thing I could tell my early entrepreneur self…

Photo by Diggity Marketing on Unsplash

If there was one thing I could tell my early entrepreneur self, it is most definitely “to have a marketing plan.”

I learned the hard way that not having a marketing and plan and not having a business plan that does not prioritize marketing is a futile attempt at entrepreneurship, delivering no possible outcome.

So here is how it all started!

Attempt #1

At the time I started my first venture, I had a decent knowledge of iOS development and a little bit of UI/UX design.

During that time, businesses were booming, and there were plenty of new small businesses…

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is one of the best-selling books in history that takes us on a journey of self-discovery. The story is about a shepherd boy named Santiago, who is on his journey to pursue his personal legend.

The theme of the story is to pursue your dreams by following what your heart desires. This book is an inspiration for all the people who are looking to improve the quality of their existence.

“Fear of failure is the biggest obstacle in your life!”

Fear in pursuing your dreams is much worse than the other sufferings of life. …

Build “Medium clone in the 90s”

Frameworks help us build a different style or functionality for our products with ease. And thanks to them we don’t need to re-invent the wheel. Not long ago I have come across a CSS framework so-called Nes.css which helps you build nostalgic style interfaces.

Let’s re-design and build Medium’s homepage and story page as if we are living in the 90s. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is more than enough for this project. You need an internet connection and a text editor. I prefer Visual Studio Code but any editor (Sublime Text, Atom, Brackets, etc.) would do it well.

How well do you know yourself?

Photo by Elias Sch from Pixabay

Believing in ourselves is very difficult sometimes. We even think that we are obliged to achieve something to gain self-trust and belief. Only after these circumstances are completed we are free to do so. The reason for this is living as a human being in a social world is a bit competitive. We compare ourselves with others by nature.

If it is in nature, is there any way to avoid it?

Yes. Not easy but, yes. And again, mankind is the source of this difficulty. The first step is not to love yourself. You wouldn't love the one you don’t know. In order to love, trust, and believe, you need to know…

The human-made universe

We all had a dream in our childhood. To be a dentist, an astronaut, a Hollywood star, etc. We simply wanted to create a character out of ourselves. Possibilities may vary and none of them is easy to be. Sometimes you have to work very hard for it, and sometimes all you need is luck.

Some people follow their dreams and minority get it. But unfortunately, the majority usually give up. Because it is easy to be lazy and continue with daily routines.

Thanks to social media, we are now able to do whatever we wanted to, and whoever we…
